Being the Consumer Magazine's number one selection for a home gym product is no easy feat. The Body Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S has taken this top spot however, due to its flexibility and ease of use.
We put it to the test to see just what benefits and advantages we could find on this machine, in comparison to others which we have reviewed recently.
Body Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S Specifications & Features
Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S Home Gym
1 new from $1,199.00
Weight & Resistance
The Body Solid StrengthTech range is well known for providing overly-adequate amounts of resistance to work with. The EXM2500S is no exception here, offering users 210lbs on cast iron resistance - enough to satisfy the beginner / average home gym user.
Unfortunately the weight on this machine is not extendable; however the EXM2500S makes up for this in other areas.
Add-ons & Extensions
The Body Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S features a number of worthwhile added extras, which will assist in working out all the different areas of the body. This model comes standard with a lat bar, straight bar, abdominal strap, and utility strap, to provide extra support where needed.
In addition, there are full size wall posters presenting usable information on how to perform each exercise correctly.
The Body Solid EXM2500 utilizes high grade construction materials to ensure the utmost sturdiness of the product. On this model, the manufacturers have incorporated 2" x 4" of 12 gauge still in to the mix, with structural support and cabling providing a maximum pull limit of 2,200lbs.
With a powder coated finish and a lifetime warranty, it's easy to see why Consumer Magazine focused on the build of the EXM2500 as a major feature of their review.
What We Liked About The Body Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S
By far the most positive feature of the EXM2500S is the construction. There is literally nothing you can do on this machine which would cause it to snap, break, or crumble. We did some fairly thorough testing of errors that beginners often make with home gym machines - and at the conclusion of this testing, the Body Solid StrengthTech was no worse for wear.
This is a huge testament to the days and weeks of effort which have gone in to putting this product together at the highest possible spec.
We also liked the selection of exercises possible on the machine, the lifetime warranty (which is extremely impressive), and the free shipping policy.
What We Didn't Like About The Body Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S
It is unfortunate that this machine cannot be upgraded (as far as resistance goes). The EXM2500S probably won't suit professional body builders and gym fanatics for this same reason. However, we have managed to forgive Body Solid for this woeful oversight, and prefer to focus on the positive of the machine - as there are way more of these than there are negatives.
Overall, a 5 star effort and a definite deserver of the top status in Consumer Magazine.
